Recently, I was offered the
opportunity to watch a private screening of the movie, To Joey, with Love. I
will be honest and say that I had never listened to their music before, however
I had heard of their story…it was all over the internet last year.
Icon Media Group’s bio
reads….Joey and Rory were a singing duo
that wanted more to life … so they
chose less. In preparation for the birth of their child, the couple simplified
their lives by putting their music career aside and staying at home, planting
roots deep in the soil of their small farm, and the community they loved.
They
believed God would give them a great story … and He did.
This was an amazing film in so many ways….the beautiful cinematography, the
soft, heart felt narration of Rory Feeks and of course, the incredible love
story of Rory and Joey. But even more
beautiful was the love story written by God in their lives.
I already knew that Joey had lost her battle with cancer this year, so I anticipated
that there would be some very sad moments.
But I wasn’t expecting the beauty or the joy I felt watching them
discover God’s blessings in their lives….even in the simplest of moments.
I love how God works. And I was left
in awe of how the Holy Spirit had nudged Rory to start recording the daily
moments of their lives leading up to the birth of their child. They had no idea what God had in store for
them or how important those videos would be…but God did.
This is a story of LOVE….the love of a husband and wife, the love of
parents and their sweet baby, but mostly it is the story of how much God loves
us…especially amidst the hard.
I would encourage all my readers to watch this movie when it comes out on
DVD Dec 12th. However, the
wonderful people at Icon Media Group have generously given me a copy of
the DVD to gift to one of my readers!!
Comment below and tell me if you have heard Joey and Rory’s
music/story. I will randomly pick a
winner on Friday December 16th.
The story, To Joey, with Love, moved me so much that now I am
headed to iTunes to download some of Joey and Rory’s music!

WOW! beautiful story, and beautiful recommendation. I have been getting emails on it, but haven't thought about seeing it-now it seems I must! How like OUR GOD-to bring beauty from ashes and someday-we will hear many stories and meet the people who found God to be Faithful! Thanks for sharing!!
I have been a follower of the "This Life I Live" blog for awhile. I admired the beautiful relationship between Rory and Joey, their love for one another, for the Lord, for their blended family, and for their little baby girl Indiana. I share Rory's blog with friends and family, and shed tear of joy and sorrow every time I read it! It got to where I wouldn't read the blog at work! I didn't want red eyes!
I have been eagerly awaiting not only the movie, To Joey, with Love, but also Rory's book, This Life I Live. Maybe we should have a Munds Park viewing of the movie!!!
I had followed and prayed for this young couple, when the news broke of her diagnosis. I was encouraged by their story of hope and perseverance. We lost my niece, Jessica to cervical cancer. She was only 24. While they are no longer with us here on earth, I know someday we will all be reunited again in heaven and I can only offer praise to God for His love and grace. Thank you for letting us know this DVD will be forthcoming, I would love to see it. God Bless!
How special of a couple were they? The whole story that I know of just breaks my heart AND inspires me. I know I'd need a box (or two) of Kleenex for this one.
I hadn't heard of them until I started following their story. I got a few of their CD's and have been so impressed with the testimony they shared through Joeys illness and death. I would love to get this DVD!
What a great introduction to the movie,Sara. You've got me camping out in front of Redbox, hoping to be one of the first to see the premiere showing!
