We just said goodbye to our first respite foster baby.
We had baby A for 4 1/2 days and I learned many things...
** I can fall in love in 4 short days
**it's an amazing feeling the moment a baby trusts you enough to snuggle
**having baby A "reach" for me makes me smile just as much as when my own children did it

**This little boy has his own place now in my heart
**I love watching my husband snuggle and sing to a baby
**Just about the time we learned A's schedule and got into a routine, it was time for him to go home
**our house is not baby proof...even though I thought I baby proofed it

**I am very tired (emphasis on very)
**I am not as "in shape" as I thought I was

**You have children when you are young for a reason :)
**I hope I can provide respite for A again.
**my heart breaks as I realize I may never know how he grows up
Yet, I know God sees him always!!
So, today I am praying for this little guy and his future.
Praying he will be on a path to meet and know his Savior.
And maybe one day, I will be able to see him again.

I prayed today again, after a long time, for the three foster siblings that were in our family (Stephan's) seven years ago and so agree with you GOD KNOWS.
awesome post - what a blessing you both were to him too !!!
Its amazing how God can put this unconditional crazy love in your heart for someone you never imagined would be in your life! Get some rest before the next time! <3
I enjoyed the pictures you posted. Don't know how you let him go...that would be most difficult for me. As always you and your family inspire me!
Don't get too attached. Eventually it wears on you and loneliness sets in.
This is a fabulous ministry - and I know that you two are the right folks to provide it. Thanks for taking us on the journey!
Bless your heart! What a bittersweet thing you are doing--to God's glory!!
Miss you,
Lori
I love it! I keep wondering how many others will go through the process of fostering because you too this path. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Yay! Can't wAt to see all that god has planned
I <3 that you share this with us; and then we can pray for you, him and his future...so we're kinda foster fosters...fostering you in prayer as you become Christ's hands and feet. Jesus is smiling over your obedience and how you're loving his creation ;)
Loved this. Love you. Not gonna lie, though. The tired part scares me a little. When I think about my 23 year old cousin who is due the same day I am, I might envy her energy level just a bit.
I feel you on the tiredness. ;-) But coffee helps everything!!
I'm so glad you were able to give that sweet boy a respite, and I pray that his family is able to love and care for him now.
I love that you are doing this, Sara. I can't imagine how hard it must be to say goodbye after falling in love with a child, but I know God will bless you abundantly. HUGS!!
Fostering is such a wonderful thing. I know God will richly bless you (as I'm sure he already has) as you help these children.
