Samaritans Feet = amazing day!

Last fall, Jared and the HS band was asked to head up a project for Samaritan's Feet in Little Rock.  Samaritan's Feet has a goal of putting 10 millions shoes on kids around the world. You can read about the organization and their story HERE.

So, last fall the band started promoting....

On 11/11/11 at 11am, they would pass a shoe around each classroom to raise $$ for shoes for needy kids in Little Rock.

The Band even performed barefoot on a cold Friday night in support of the project!

And then on 11/11/11, the shoes were passed around and these kids raised over $4,000 for Samaritans feet!! That money was enough to purchase over 300 shoes for needy children in our area....300!

But it wasn't over.  Samaritan's Feet is not just about getting shoes to children.  It is about showing the love of Christ to each one.

Thursday this last week, about 33 kids from our school went to a location on the other side of our city and....

...washed the feet of 300 children.

That simple act had a huge impact and opened the doors to talk to many of them about the love of Jesus.

They were able to develop friendships during the time it took to size the kids, walk them to a new location, wash their feet and fit the shoes.

And the kids got to experience being served on a very basic level....maybe for the first time.

Each shoe was imprinted with John 3:16 ... another opportunity for the kids to share how much God loves them!

Even the Little Rock police department got involved.  How cool is that?!!
Can you imagine the feelings of the kids that had their feet washed by a police officer?

But probably the sweetest moment for me was watching this young lady from our school take this little one aside to share Christ with her and pray with her.  Both were completely blessed by the other!!

It was truly an amazing day.
And I was so honored to be able to be a part of it.

That's amazing! What a wonderful opportunity/blessing! Loved the photo of the policeman washing feet too. A much different image than the media typically shows!
