Praise before Victory

We have countless examples in the bible of God's people praising His name before the victory came.

Praise is honoring to God!!

I was reminded of this in my devotion this morning as I read Mark 14:26

And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Jesus was about to go to the cross where God's greatest victory would happen. The disciples were about to fail Him and He was about to be cruelly crucified, yet Jesus led them all to sing a hymn and praise God.

I was reminded that "praise is rooted not in circumstances of the moment but in the nature and trustworthiness of God."

So what are you singing today?
Is your focus on God or on your circumstances?

If you want direction on some beautiful hymns this week, head over to Linda's. She is posting some wonderful ones.

Today I am choosing to rejoice in God!!

Amen to that sister! Today as I am working on our song services in our music ministry, I am singing praises to Him! I find that I focus on God more when I am listening to music that glorifies Him....it puts me in a worshipful spirit and takes my mind completely off of my circumstances. I love to sing praise to Him! Thanks for this post Sara, I love how God speaks to us and gives us these reminders to focus on Him!

Rejoicing with you! I just finished reading the book of Daniel and it has left me full of thoughts of how powerful ADONAI is, how he can do ANYTHING he wants with whomever he wants...he can exalt a refugee boy to a leader of a great (and Godless) nation and rescue him from the lion's den. Daniel never stopped praying and worshipping God, even when he knew it could get him killed. May we all be so bold and unchanging in worshipping him no matter what the cost or circumstances!
