Project 365 - Week 3

Week 3.

I was excited to see so many of you keeping up with P365 and even happier to see all the comments on everyone's posts! This is a wonderful community and having done this for one year already, I know that the encouragement helps in staying with it!!! Keep it up!

I have a question for all of you that have done the project before. If you could give one piece of advice to the ones just starting....what would it be?

My advice would be.....don't make it a "project" or think your pictures have to look professional. You most definitely will become a better photographer over the year (I did!), but the goal is to document your family's life! Those are the pictures that you want recorded!!!

Guess what?! I just today finished my blurb book for P365/2009. It turned out fantastic and I would love to share it with you. If you would like to view it, just leave me your email address in a comment and I will send you an invitation.

Here's my week:
Sunday
After a busy day....it was pancakes for dinner

Monday

Dinner.....my boys had seconds....pretty amazing!

Tuesday

one of our heating units went out over Christmas...
during the coldest winter on record in 10 years!
Steve's office was 44 degrees!!!

this is our new heating unit being put in.

Youth at our house tonight.
they had teams and when the youth pastor yelled out a word they had to become it as a group. Here the boys are making a winning guitar.

Thursday

Good bye hearing my dishwasher at the neighbors..
Good bye having to clean the dishes completely before loading..
Good bye broken soap lid..
Good bye tiny space with no room for large objects..

HELLO new dishwasher!!!!
We actually had to turn the TV down to hear it tonight!

Friday

iChatting with Alyssa today

Saturday

boys gone for weekend +
house clean +
no plans =

a day to sit on the sofa and finish this great book!!

Alright, now it's your turn. Link up and share your week in pictures!!!

Thanks for the clue phone on the wrong date.
How exciting to get a new dishwasher to make your life easier.
I would love to view your Blurb book.
I agree with you - do not make it a project - make it fun - always try to have your camera with you. You just never know when your picture will appear for the day.

And as I looked back on my year the majority of the pictures were family and the whole year did tell quite a story.
I have also made some great friendships with you, Darla and Mari. I enjoy hearing from you three, receiving encouragement, prayer and laughing with you at some of your posts. I have really gained great friends in the three of you. Thanks Girls!! And I look forward to adding new ones in this project.

Loved the pictures. (I gotta come up with something original to write every week! LOL Could you please take some gross pictures?!)

What was the Monday night dish? It looks really good.

And I love breakfast for dinner. We had pancakes last weekend too!

I smiled when I saw your Saturday picture. You'll have to email me when you get done and tell me what you think and if you figured any of it out!

Ditto what Linda said. I need to know what Monday's dish is.

I dare say, not a week goes by without amazing food fotos! Good thing you have a good dishwasher now then.
Installing the new heating unit must have been MAJOR!
Will you do a book review?

Advice:
Set it up so that it is quick and easy for readers to comment once for the whole week, then you will get more responses.
Encouragement:
It gets easier with practice and you learn so much! It will become a life style. What a treasure you will have in the end!

Yep - I want to know what that delicious looking dish was too! You won't get too many food photos on my blog LOL! I should have taken a picture of the crock pot last Sunday - it was the first time in almost a year that we had used it.

I agree with Rita - when I go to blogs that post their pictures each day I'm left wondering if I should just comment on the last one, or the ones that especially interest me. It's hard for my brain to figure it out LOL. But I understand if folks want to do it that way - they can have a sure-fire post every day.

Uh oh, my photography skills did not improve discernibly this past year. lol But that's okay, I'm still having fun with it! We love having breakfast for supper every once in a while. Recently we had pancakes with fresh peaches - yum! Yay for new dishwashers and heaters!!! And for the internet that allows us to skype with the ones we love...and post Project 365 photos :-)

Have a great week!

Great photos, the food looks yummy! I haven't read that book, I did read one of Angela Hunt's books, it was part of a series.

I am so in the mood for pancakes now that I saw your picture...

You meal Monday night looks fabulous... could you share the recipe?

I would love to see your book...looking forward to it.

My advice: Have fun with it... if you don't get pictures every day, atleast share the ones you did take.

Post the dish recipe!! You know I need more things to cook like you!

What kind of dishwasher did you end up getting?

Would love to see the Blurb book.

Since I am just starting Project 365, I love that peopl leave comments. I used to be such a lurker, but it really means a lot to hear from people so that in itself has been great!!

OK, that food looked DELISH! And now I am very hungry!!!!!

What I have learned is that waiting til it's time to DO the post to pick out the pictures and put everything together makes it much harder. So now, everytime I have my camera out - or at least by the end of the day - I immediately go through the pics and choose the shot for the day and put it in my 2010 365 file and date it. It makes it so much easier and faster to put the post together. so - even if I wait until Sunday afternoon, I can get it done quickly so it's not as daunting of a task. It helps me anyway!

You deserve that relaxing Saturday after the last couple crazy weeks you had.

I'll have to try that book...not sure I've read any of hers.

My advice:
Don't get discouraged. It takes some time to form a new habit, which is all a daily picture is. If you only had four this week, make it your goal to have five next week...just don't give up completely.

Consider it an investment for one, ten, or fifty years from now, when you don't remember all the "silly" things that made up your life in 2010.

And thank you, Sara for your faithfulness in hosting this project. What a gift it has been!

Sara, It's good to see others have pancakes for dinner, but it looks like you made up for it the next night! What is that and I want some!

Food pics are great! I also love the picture of the video chat, that one will turn out to be a great memory for sure, if not for you for your great grandkids who will say "hey you guys remember that old way to communicate...video chatting so archaic" and then they will laugh at us!!

Great Pictures!!

Yikes! I never thought about how hard it might be to replace a heating unit at Grace. (Well, who would?)

Also, Monday night's dinner looks yummy! What IS it??

Jill from Killeny Glen said...

I would like to try this! BUT, I need to get it together soon!

A good week at your place (MINUS the heating unit of course!) The buttery, pastry covered pie of goodness on Monday? What was it? It looks YUMMY!

Mon: ...the one positive in coming late to the Project 365 Party is that I don’t have to ask for the recipe :) I’ve already sent it to the printer and I shall finally have a use for that puff pastry in our freezer for something other than a dessert requiring 3 cups of sugar! Lol! THANKS. It looks wonderful. But I need that dish to make it complete!

Wed: Youth party/ cool game. I may try that one!

Thurs: COOL! I covet :( My dishwasher is where I hide my Little Debby Nutty Bars since it hasn’t worked in over 8 years. What a shock -- the quiet, huh?

Friday: That is AmAzInG!!! I’d be worried how “secure” it is – but that’s me! Seems very “Jetsons!”

Saturday: Was it good? Cover photo is quite enticing…

My one piece of advice would be to make Project 365 as daily as checking e-mail or {*wasting time*} on Facebook. Lol! It only takes seconds to upload digital photos – I add several more than a week's worth on a post in blogger and then [Save As Draft]...then once a week, we make it a family project to pick out the best shots and think of funny captions. The weeks that I missed posting last year were weeks the family just never got together :(

I shall try to take Rita’s advice about leaving but ONE comment area for the entire week. I am guilty. Comments arenice :) but more important than comments is the chronicle we’ve created of our family. It’s so much fun to just scroll through our year. The kids get laughing and reminiscing and laughing and laughing and laughing and then they cry when we see picture of the dog we adopted away in November. . . (and I secretly do a happy dance in my head!) {sshhhhh….}

THANK you, Sara for hosting Project 365 and encouraging us and faithfully visiting us on our own blogs. Your comments make me smile -- sometimes just when I need it most! :)

Wow Sara. I could've sworn I stopped in here and posted already. I went directly to your P365 blog A year of my life, I think is what you call it. Anyway, I'm glad Alyssa is doing ok.
