Before & After Party!!!

Today I am joining Thrifty Decor Chic's Before & After Party!!! I saw that she was having this right as I decided to finally redo my bedroom......perfect timing!!!

If you haven't visited her blog........you need to!! I have learned from her that most anything you see in a magazine or store can easily be done at home and cost less!!! It amazes me sometimes what she can do!! And she has inspired me to tackle some projects that I probably wouldn't have!

We have lived in this house now for 2 1/2 years. The first month I was here, I tackled the main floor (kitchen, family room, dining room) and redid all of them top to bottom.....

.....and it completely wore me out.

I could not even look at another paint brush. The color in my bedroom was a neutral greyish taupe.......yuck! It clashed with my bedspread and made the room look so dark and gloomy, but I just couldn't do it.

Since I knew someday I would, I didn't put anything on the walls and I barely attempted to keep it neat.

I just plain didn't like it.

Fast forward 2 1/2 years and I was finally ready to take on this room. Steve was leaving for the weekend and it would be the perfect time!! You can go here to read how perfect *cough* it was!

Anyway, I finally finished it! And if you have known me a while....you know that I don't "completely" finish many projects. Those final touches just never seem to happen. And unfortunately, that fact doesn't usually bother me. But this time I finished it completely.........and I LOVE it!!!

That, my friends, is a great feeling!!!

The Old Room....

This is my room prior to the paint.
the color is more grey than it looks.
no pics on the wall.
The head board is brass and it is actually the foot board to my mother's bed!

You need to know I made the bed just for the pictures....
...when you don't care for the room, what's the point?!!!
Most of my furniture are antiques that were handed down from family.

The lamp in this picture did not come with that shade and
the silver looks awful with it, but it's all I had at the time!

The New Room.....

Quite the difference, huh?!
Isn't it gorgeous?!!

My dresser has never looked so good!!!

I know the small white fan doesn't really go with the decor...
..that is my "white noise" to drown out the horrible snoring "other" noise.
....it is a must.

Saturday I found a lamp on clearance for $10.
It was perfect for the shade and this corner!

Well, that is my Before & After. It just makes me smile every time I walk in the room!

There are a few pictures that I want to highlight for you, but I think that will be a good blog for tomorrow.

Now head over the Thrifty Decor Chic and see even more Before & Afters.......

.........maybe you will find some great new ideas and/or some inspiration!!!

WONDERFUL...now there is just something uplifting and cheerful about yellow....I would love to wake up to that color...I think it is REFRESHING!

I love OLD, ANTIQUE and SECOND HAND better than ANYTHING NEW!! It has much more character and a true history and story to tell!

It is so wonderful when you can switch up the paint, add a curtain and some mirrors and fall in love! Nicely done.

Sara you did a WONDERFUL job!
That yellow does liken things up and it looks so inviting. Are those the curtains you made???
I hear yeah with the fan. I need white noise too!
I love the mirrors above the bed too.
Kudos on all your hard work! What did Steve think???

Wow! It IS gorgeous! You did a fantabulous job Sara :-) Wanna come help me with mine now? We still don't have any pictures on the walls in any room except the living room (I put up my kids photos and one oil painting right after we painted). We've been in the house 11 months. *sigh*

The curtains look great too. I like how it coordinates but isn't matchy matchy with the bedding. (Not sure matchy matchy is a real term, but you know what I mean)

Your room looks like a great place to hang out, relax, maybe get away from the crazy that happens in the rest of the house when you have teens? :-)

Congratulations on a job well done!

Laughing at your response to Sara's questions about what Steve thought about it. :) It looks FANTASTIC! I see a future as an interior designer for ya!

Sara, it looks great. All of that pain and stiffness you went through paid off!

Incidentally, our bedroom was the same color as your (before) when we moved in two years ago and we painted our yellow last year. It looks about the same shade, too! You have a nice big window to lighten things, too.

Sara - it turned out great! Was your hubby surprised and had you told him you were going to do it? I like your curtains too!

It looks wonderful! We have been in this house 5 years and I still have nothing on my bedroom walls. You've inspired me to tackle that project.

This is beautiful! Good for you. I can't wait to show "after" pictures of our "project" (that crummy bathroom one) don't know when it will ever happen. I am so happy for you that you got this done and that it turned out so well.

I AM going to tackle my bedroom one of these days. I have a shelving unit with science supplies in there! Talk about yuck. There's a dead fish in a bag ready for dissection among the beakers.

I do love your new bedroom!

Sara, I love your new bedroom, it is beautiful! I've always loved yellow and red together....it's perfect! Great job, you did awesome!!! I have a fan by my bed to drown out the noise too, but mine is an ugly black one.

Very, very nice. And don't feel bad about the fan. We have fans in every bedroom here. We're addicted.
