No kids....should I be responsible?

with my time, that is!!

I am KID FREE for FIVE days....well four now. My youngest is still in Germany with his grandparents and my older two left yesterday on a road trip to Abilene. Alyssa has some furniture she needed to get back there and asked Jason to go (she says for some fun. I think it was for manual labor!)

So, that leaves me with.......time!

You may not know this, but I am not the best time manager. I am an "otter" personality! I have to really work at it and have been know to completely waste a day getting stuck in meaningless jobs. I have learned that I need to make lists if I want to get anything accomplished. It is amazing how fast time can slip away from you!

I have so much I would like to get done while the kids are gone, but I want to enjoy my time too!! So, I took yesterday for ME. Our summer bible study started in the morning, then I went to lunch with a good friend. We ended up sitting at lunch getting caught up for THREE hours!!! How fun it was to visit and not have to worry about being anywhere or having to pick someone up!! Then, at the last minute, we decided to go play cards with friends after dinner.....on a week night! The girls slammed the boys in 2 games of spades and never once did I have to worry about what the kids were doing!! It was a GREAT day!!!

Today, I am getting caught up on all my blog's so easy to get behind! But I plan on working on Children's Church items the rest of the day (since it is raining, the pool won't beckon me away!)

I have decided to "play" every other day.....good plan, don't you think?

However, the best part of it all is that I can change my plans on a moments notice. I have a feeling that will happen more that once..........spontaneous should be my middle name!

So, what would you do if you had 5 days with no kids?

I am afraid I would waste time just THINKING of all the things I would like to do! I would have to have a list as well if I wanted to get something productive DONE!
What fun though...and the idea of playing cards on a week night and staying up LATE feels decadent!
ENJOY YOUR TIME...I say don't do anything you really don't want can wait.

it has only happened to me twice, the first time my husband and i spontaneously flew to Las Vegas! and the second time we stayed home and enjoyed the sounds of 'nothing' peace and quiet! i organized closets and just found m yself being still in the quiet. it was the stangest feeling in the world. no noise, no messes, no one to drive around! i am not sure which was better? enjoy your 5 days, you deserve a break from the parent train! :D

It's going to happen to me the week of June 15 when my kids are at church camp. I'm debating about going to spend some time with my MIL, but either way, I'll probably spend time reading and blogging and sleeping. In other words, not much more disciplined than I am at any other time! LOL

the quietness. i didn't care for it as much as i thought i would while my littles ones were away at granny's.

Oh man I can't even imagine it!!!
DO I get to have my husband? Can I get an extra grand in the bank?
if I had to stay HOME, I'd read the entire Harry Potter series boks. ANd maybe watch Friends all 10 seasons. If we had money to GO somewhere I'd go to CHicago or Boston.

I would definitely make a list--because I tend to get caught in the same trap. But, I might surprise them with a mini-remodel of their room...because this would give me a great excuse to invade and re-organize their stuff. ;) I really think they wouldn't miss half their stuff if it just mysteriously disappeared. MuaHaHa
But perhaps I underestimate them.

I would clean my house from top to bottom---seriously. I can't remember the last time it was clean and STAYED THAT WAY! So if I did that first, at least it would be clean for 5 days anyway! After that I would LOVE to spend some fun time with my husband. I too would have to make a list as I am EASILY sidetracked.

I would spend time with friends, go try something at Starbucks, and maybe even get a manicure and pedicure...something I have NEVER done! Then I think the rest of the time I would be curled up in a hammock reading while sipping a homendous glass of sweet tea or lemonade. Skippy.....peel me some grapes!

More play, less work :-) I mean, when was the last time you were kid free? And when is it likely to happen again? Get together with friends more, like you did at lunch yesterday or last evening...the kind of things you can't do (or do as often) when the kids are around. The work will wait. It always does!

I'm getting caught up on my blog reading too. I have 54 blogs in my "daily" folder yet to read.

Enjoy your time off! You deserve it!!!

I'm like you, Sara, I need lists or I get WAY off track and nothing gets done!

Enjoy the rest of your kidless days! A busy mom like you deserves some "me" time, that's for sure!

I don't know, but I plan to find out in 2 weeks when both girls are in camp and hubby is gone doing a campmeeting for the week!! Looking forward to hearing about your time and maybe it will give me some ideas.

I know 1 day I'm shopping with my sis and going to lunch!!!!

I say WOOHOO for you. Enjoy -
I am like you and need lists.
But I think I would sit by your pool one day and work on the tan.
I would work in my flower beds and maybe do a little shopping. Joel and Phil will be gone for 4 days in July for a youth rally.

I would do exactly what I do because my nest is empty.
