Got talent?

I have always been a public school advocate. And my children have always attended public schools.

...until we moved to Little Rock.

God made it very clear that our boys were to be at a private christian school here. My son went from a public high school of 3000 to a private school of just over 400. It was a big adjustment and for a while I really wondered if we had made the right decision. But it has been a good one for my boys.....in many ways.

Friday night was the high school talent show. And I walked away realizing why I like this school so much. Seeing the kids play instruments, sing, rap, etc about Jesus was so awesome. To realize that all 40 acts were clean and fun and the kids enjoyed all of them was very cool.

Of course, I must share a few of the videos with you. I would be remiss as a mom if I didn't post my son's acts!!!

This first one is of Jason singing a song he wrote for his girlfriend. Go ahead....give me a collective......awwwwwwwww! It was very sweet.

This next one is just part of a rap that one of the boys wrote and performed for his World View class. The assignment was on the book of Romans and this was really awesome. I wish you could have heard the whole thing! So clever!

This last one is a band. The singer is one of the teachers at the school. Jason is in the white shirt. They did a rock medley that was fantastic and the kids went wild! They rushed the stage and danced. Very Fun!

This last picture made me laugh. Instead of holding up lighters, like we did, the kids held up their cell phones!!

This was a great night. Admittedly, there were a few acts that were a bit painful. :) But for the most part, it was a very fun evening!!

Awww, why the hate? I got a great education in Little Rock, albeit at magnet schools. We've talked about this before-I know what you mean. If we ever move to LR we want our kids at your boys' school.

The talent show looks so fun. Jason is so talented. Seeing all those cell phones being held up makes me feel old!

Too fun! Thanks for sharing. I wish I could have heard more of the rap and the last number sounded really good. Your kids got some real talent! You should be proud Mom, as I'm sure you are!

From what I could tell, your son is quite talented. Nice voice. I can't tell because the details get a little blurry that far away, but the "rapper" looks suspiciously like a Lepine. Is it?

Your Christian School must be really cool! Jason is very talented! Is the rapper one of your kids also or just a student from the school? Whoever he is...he is also very talented! It looks like everyone was having a fantastic time and I'm sure it was a night they will always remember. Thanks for sharing these videos with us.

Your son is VERY talented! I am sure it has been a blessing seeing him develop into a man! I don't think I have told you that NLR is where I grew up! Small world!

It is a big advantage to have your children grow up in a clean, God-honoring environment.

My walls are now a plain tan, nice and neutral. I DID have gorgeous blue wallpaper that I loved.

My son went to a Christian Middle School, and I so wish he could've gone to a Christian High School. There were none in our town, which is ridiculous because it's a town of 137,000, and the one's nearby were so expensive. At the time, I thought he'd be going to college right away; now I can't help but wonder if he should take a year off and do some missionary work, or something. Anyway, what a blessing for your boys to go where they did, and how wise of you to send them!

Collective "Aaaaawwwww!" is right. That's too sweet for words :-) The rap on Romans is great too! What a fun group of kids...and yet another thing we can use cell phones for...my daughter uses hers to take pictures, call people, text people, receive e-mails...
