You ask....I deliver!

Several of you asked for the recipe for the Red Velvet Cake that I pictured yesterday.  This is my son's and husband's favorite cake......Linda, they Ken Lee it!!!!  I think you will too once you see how easy it is to make and taste how delicious it is!!!  Enjoy!

Red Velvet Cake

1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup oil
1 (1 oz) bottle red food coloring
3 eggs

combine all ingredients at low speed until moistened.  Beat 2 minutes at high speed.  Pour batter into 3 prepared 8" cake pans (must be 8 inch or you won't have enough batter).  Bake at 350 until done, about 20-25 minutes.  cool.

frosting

1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 lb. powdered sugar

cream butter and cheese, add vanilla and sugar.  I like to just frost between the layers and the top so you can see the beautiful red cake!!!

YUMMERS!!!!! Looks absolutely declicious. I'll definitely be trying it.

I also wanted to apologize for being TOTALLY lame and not doing the project 365. I just knew that it was more than I could handle with these 3 little ones. I took the pics and my camera is...AT MY MOM's! So sorry. ::sniff::

I remember my mom making a Red Velvet Cake when I was a kid and I was so enthralled with the bright color. :) This looks fabulous, and easy too - I think this one is going in my recipe book.

Thank you for sharing this recipe! I have 2 daughters in college and I'm thinking I will surprise them for Valentines day with these for each of them. Will make them very popular in their dorm/apartment I'm sure. :)

Made it for the Baxters today. I love that you don't have to use buttermilk and all the other stuff I've used when making it before!
