Current::October

I really am trying to get myself back into blogging.
However, there is a lot of heavy stuff going on in my life right now.
So, I decided to copy one of my favorite things to read on my friend Meredith's blog....
....her Currents.

I love reading her list each month.
Something on there always makes me smile.

So here are my currents for October:

Current Read: I am sad to say that I'm not reading anything right now. I haven't been making time to read and that's just wrong. I miss it.

Current Playlist: Bethel Music, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, David Crowder Band. Ecclectic, as usual.

Current Color(s): Gray, orange, red. Not together.
Current Food: I kind of threw some ingredients together for lunch the other day and it was so good that it's now become my favorite go-to lunch.
It's artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers (from a jar), kalamata olives, cucumbers, and feta over a bowl of quinoa. I don't even add any seasoning because it's flavorful enough without it.

Current Favorite Favorite: Fall candles, our DVR, NFL Sunday Ticket (got it free for the season when we switched to DirectTV last spring), and a super amazing beauty product that deserves a post of it's very own. Stay tuned for that last one...

Current Addiction: SPellegrino sparkling water. And season one of The Black List on Netflix.
Current Wish List: I really want a black/white or navy/white gingham shirt. Anyone know where I should look? I saw some online for $88 and that's a whole lot more than I will spend.

Current Need: I really need to buy a new planner. Mine ends in December and I already have 2015 dates I need to get on the calendar.
Current Triumph: I feel like I'm finally finding a good rhythm in regard to my priorities and my time management and that feels like a triumph!
Current Annoyance: We woke up on Saturday to electricity in only half of our house. Turns out that one of two wires from the power box to our house has deteriorated to the point that it's only functioning at about 30%. An electrician came out Saturday and moved some of our circuits onto the one fully-functioning line until the other could be replaced. My oven, washer, dryer, bedroom/bathroom lights were unable to be re-circuited due to their voltage size so we've been doing what I call "suburban camping". Cooking in a crock-pot. Doing laundry at the laundromat. Wearing a headlamp to the bathroom. Yeah, seriously. And showering in the dark. Fun times. They came and mapped out all the power lines yesterday so they could dig up/replace the old line today. Hopefully this suburban camping life ends soon, which is good because I'm running out of crock-pot ideas and clean underwear.

Current Blessing(s): The (minor) inconveniences we've been living with the past few days make me realize these are first world problems and we are incredibly blessed to have things like heat and unspoiled food and a working coffee-maker and internet. And funds to pay for the repairs. And so so so much more.
Current Outfit: Well, currently I'm still wearing my workout clothes from this morning but I'm going to shower soon and get dressed for the day. I'm thinking jeans and a lightweight cardigan. I think our temps are 60s/70s today--perfect!
Current Excitement: I am very excited about Trader Joe's opening on Friday in Colorado Springs! It's been a long wait for TJs to arrive in my neck of the woods. I have a list going...AND I have a balance on a TJs gift card. Pretty sure I've never been this excited about grocery shopping before.
Current Project(s): My plate is pretty free of projects right now and I am more than okay with that!

Current plans for the day: Shower. Errands. Lunch with my "church girls" to catch up and do some brainstorming. Carpool. Dinner. And hopefully some Black List before bed. That is if my bedroom has electricity by tonight. Fingers crossed!

Current Read:  I just finished Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus.  EVERYone needs to read this book.  It impacted me in obvious ways but also in some unexpected ways too. And now I am on to An Invisible Thread the true story of an 11-year-old panhandler.  This book had me hooked in the first chapter!!!  And the Bible as I am doing a precept study of Daniel right now.

Current Playlist:  Rend Collective, Jason Gray, Pentatonix, Tenth Avenue North

Current Food:
Current Food: Steve and I have been eating Vegan since the beginning of September. It's not a permanent change, but something we needed to do.  I am actually enjoying it!!  And loving the new recipes I am coming up with.  We took at week break last week....and honestly, I couldn't wait to get back to it.  I recently got one of these....
It allows me to make "pasta" out of zucchini or butternut squash, etc......SO GOOD!!!

Current Favorite: my DVR, my Fallish essential oils like cinnamon bark and orange

Current Addiction: Coconut oil.  I use it on my face as a cleanser/moisturizer (my skin has never looked better!!), I use it as a lotion and I use it on my hair.  I also cook with it.  Tonight I made popcorn and poured melted coconut oil over it with salt....seriously better than butter!!!

Current Wishlist:  A phone call we are hoping to get.  To see my children...I am really missing all of them lately.

Current Need:  A calendar.  I have some things I need to keep up with that just don't work in my phone.

Current Triumph:  Made it back to the gym tonight after a long hiatus.  It actually felt really good.

Current Annoyance: my bicep tendonitis.  It has gotten progressively worse lately and I am noticing a loss in range of motion.  My lemongrass helps temporarily but the tendon is so inflamed this time it needs something else....like an injection.  :/   So here is something about me...I HATE needles.  And I am willing to try most anything to avoid the injection.  Our last resort is a round of oral steroids......which is my next annoyance....side effects.  Hot flashes and headaches.  ugh.  Maybe the injection wouldn't be so bad.  prayers are appreciated!

Current Blessing:  Last Wednesday we were flying home from Illinois and we had to fly through Chicago.  The airport was still a huge mess from the fire in the control tower and our first flight to Chicago was 2 hours late.  But that was ok because the flight we were catching was also 2+ hours late.  So as Steve and I walked through the crazy crowded terminal to get some dinner....we ran into a friend of ours from Ethiopia!!!!  He is head of the ministry Steve and I went over to help with last October.  He had just flown in from Ethiopia on his way to Kentucky.  Seriously, what are the chances?!!  I am still smiling from that God appointed encounter!!

Current Outfit:  Work out clothes.  :)  See current triumph!

Current Excitement:  Seeing God work in our circumstances.  I know that is vague but maybe I'll get to share more soon.

Current Project:  Painting my master bath.   It has the original wallpaper on it and it is not coming off!!  So we will be painting over it...ugh.  I have a love/hate relationship with painting.

So those are my currents for this month.  Now I am off to shower and snuggle down to read my book!!

I'm impressed with your eating habits. It's something I really need to work on. The whole body is a temple thing has been weighing on me lately, along with doing it for health.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about coconut oil!
Praying your bicep improves quickly! (And that phone call comes!)

Eating Vegan? I'm impressed! Thumbs up to you!!!!! Even if you incorporate it more in your life, that would be great.

I need a 2015 calendar so bad. I'm living on post it notes for my photography schedule.

Go for the injection! Just don't watch while they're giving it :) That's my coping mechanism, developed back when I was 12 and severely anemic so I had to get iron shots twice weekly.

Thanks for the reading tips; always looking for books worth reading!

Continuing to pray for y'all!

Your spiralizer looks to be sturdier, a more sophisticated model than ours. I've enjoyed decorating with radish spirals lately.
Really glad for your return to blogging, and especially hopeful for you all's future direction. God is faithful!

I'm feeling tendrils of hope in this post - I'll pray that they flourish!

And I use the same coping mechanism as Kim does - just look the other way. Note: it doesn't REALLY help, but at least you're not further freaked out by watching the needle...and I'm stopping right there because needles freak me out too :)
