Too Long

Wow.  It’s been 2 months since I last posted to my blog.

I don’t think I have ever gone that long... and I have missed it.

Being gone this long wasn’t something I planned…it just kind of happened.  And even now as I type this post, I struggle for words to describe my life right now.  If I had to sum it up in one word it would be “Trust”.  God and I have been working hard this summer to bring me to a place where I am completely trusting Him….alone.

You can imagine that it has not been easy, but it HAS been good.  And like a grapevine in a vineyard…it is a struggle that produces something beautiful.

But I can sum up some of what has happened in the Bowyer household over the last 2 months in a few bullet points…

* we have had 6 beautiful foster children come through our home this summer.  Ranging from ages 3 weeks to 13 months.  All have been so special and have touched my heart in different ways.

*we have successfully launched and moved our daughter!  She now resides outside of Houston, Tx and is starting her life as a SLP (speech language pathologist)  I am so very thankful for Skype and our weekly skype dates.  I miss her terribly.

*we have filled her room….very quickly… with a wonderful young woman that will be living with us for 6 months.

*we have transitioned both boys back into college

Those are just the highlights.  There are so many other smaller things that have happened, but I would be here forever if started in on those.

We now move into the fall with a “not-so-empty” nest and lots of plans….

*Labor Day BBQ. We are trying to get as much out of summer as possible.  However this summer loving girl is actually looking forward to the fall.

*more foster children

*a visit to Alyssa soon…maybe this is why I am looking forward to fall!!

*a mission trip to Ethiopia in October (more on that to come)

*Visits with friends

*holidays and family times

I am pretty sure my life is not slowing down any time soon.  However, no matter what comes, God has been teaching me to be ready.  To quit trying to create opportunites and instead to watch for the opportunities HE creates and just be ready to respond.  This is my goal and the only way I will accomplish that is by staying close to Him…

“In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.” - Psalm 5:3

It will also take a change in attitude as one of my devotions in Jesus calling said:

Accept each day just as it comes to you. do not waste your time and energy wishing for a different set of circumstances. instead, trust Me enough to yield to My design and purposes.

Though there are things happening in my life that I don't understand and can't figure out, God has proven to me over and over that He is GOOD and He is has control over it all....I have no need to worry, I just need to be ready.

I sing it to myself often and I think of it now as I read your words.... Toby Mac's "Steal My Show". God will honor your obedience and desire to follow His will.
