Well, we have everyone back to school and I have settled into a fall routine....sort of.
With empty nest, it seems my days are very full but they are never the same....there really is no routine, just busyness!
However, now my focus is finally on our trip to Ethiopia. I know several of you have asked for more specifics so hear ya go:
Steve and I will be going to Ethiopia for 12 days.
It is our first missions trip "together" and I am so excited. Each of us has gone with one child or on our own, but never together....another benefit of empty nest!
We are joining a ministry called the:jamesinitiative.
You can click on the link to find out more about them.
the:jamesinitiative partners with local ministries to care for the orphans of Ethiopia. One of the ways they are doing that is by creating income generating projects. the:jamesinitiative has purchased a property that they have been working on called The Bethel House. It is a large guesthouse that people can rent when they come to Ethiopia to adopt, on a mission trip, business trip or any other reason. All the profits from the property go to a local ministry for street children called Onisemus.
This guesthouse will afford them the opportunity to get one step closer to complete independence from the need of outside donations and allow the local community to take care of the needs of the orphan without the anxiety of not knowing where the money will come from.
We will be joining with another team and working to finish the property and make it ready to rent....painting, electrical work, plumbing and I'm sure lots of things we don't even know about yet.
We will also be working with Onisemus and with the street children.
As I have prayed over this trip, I know God has something specific for me in Ethiopia. I'm not exactly sure what it is yet, but I know He will show me and I am excited to find out.
I would love for you to join me in praying for our team and time there....
**Pray for the health of the team now and while we are in Ethiopia.
**Pray we will all be "ready" for whatever opportunities the Lord presents us with
**Pray that we will allow the HS to change us through this experience
**pray that we will have a heart of compassion for the people we will meet
**pray that we would be conduits of God's love to the people there
**and pray we are able to get all the work done!
