Project 365 - Week 33

 Week 33.

Steve and Alyssa drove to Kansas this week to visit Steve's family.  I stayed back with Jared since he had band camp.  I thought I was going to have tons this time on my hands and planned to get done all the things I have been putting off.......because no one will need me, right?

Ya, you know how that went.......the week was so busy and I was lucky to get my house cleaned.

Ok, if I am honest, not getting much done wasn't just because it was busy.....I have been sucked in to a book I am reading and can't put it down!!!

Here's my week:

Sunday
We had some of our great friends from Indiana visit this weekend.  Jason taught Marv one of our favorite napkin games at lunch....and Marv beat him!!!!

 Monday

Marching band camp started today.
It is exciting and sad at the same time because this is our last year.

Tuesday

More peach jam today!
I found peaches at Walmart that were cheaper and better than the ones from the peach orchard!  Oh my, this jam is GOOD!

Wednesday

This was probably the best tasting guacamole I have made in a while!!
and it got eaten quickly by the kids at our last youth swim party of the summer.

Thursday

It was a Betty Crocker kind of day....
...more peach jam and banana bread.

Jason has been helping out with band camp this week, working with the woodwinds.

Friday

Last day of band camp.
We had a family potluck and the kids performed what they have worked on so far.  It is going to be a great year!!
Saturday
My neighbor brought me a whole bag of okra out of her garden this afternoon...guess what we had for dinner?  Yum!!!

For a lot of us, this was the last week of summer.....how did you spend it?

So I think I'm just going to head on down to your house - everything you made this week looks FABULOUS! Yum!

At first I thought that Jason was helping with the wordWORK & expected to see a picture of him painting :)

All the food looks FABULOUS! I adore okra and haven't had any in a sweet forever. Hope you ate enough for you and me both :)
Sounds like a busy week -- so much for catching up. LOL But sounds like it was a good one anyway.

Wait. All those exciting pictures, all those yummy foods, and you didn't even tell us what book you're reading? Sara, you can't tease me like that. ;)

I love homemade guac! It's definitely one of my favourites.

I'd love to know what book you've been reading. I'm always on the lookout for a good book to immerse myself in!

On the 12-course dinner, I did most of the legwork ahead of time. For one thing, I wanted us to use our money as wisely as possible, so I researched special sales going on. Frozen margaritas were $4 at Capi's that week, for instance. And for another thing, our time was very limited. And we have GOT to be the most indecisive couple on the face of the planet. So, I sort of mapped out the town, clumping several courses within the general vicinity of one another. The last three courses were pretty silly: coffee, then popcorn (with our movie), and then a mint. It's HARD to come up with 12 courses!!

Lady, I still need to learn how to can from you!! You've been a busy bee with all the food production you've got going on over there! The guac looks divine. My absolute favorite food ever!!! Oh, and fried okra?? Well, let's just say I was RAISED on it. :) Paul and I have been frying our okra lately with absolutely no breading whatsoever. To cut down on the amount of grains we eat. I cut the pieces bigger and then fry them in coconut oil and salt them while they're draining. They're pretty delish. If you're an okra fan.

Now. About this napkin game. What in the world??!!

Yes, you left us hanging on two counts: the book and the game???
I ditto STILLMAGNOLIA. Love all that food.
And you feel like you didn't get anything done??? Really, Sara... ;)

Hey Friend - has been a crazy weekend so didn't post like I usually do. Just my day by day post.
Had our company and wedding, church picnic today and a few sad things too.
The wedding was an hour away and Joel got two phone calls with 45 minutes of each other. Thank heavens for two other pastors. He got a call from one of his associates that at 45 yr old man, has a wonderful wife and two kids committed suicide. Guess he was on new meds and told Dr he didnt like how he felt and Dr said stay on then and see you on the 23rd. Then his phone rang again from a cty sheriff that a 20 yr old kid took his life. What a hard time for our congregation and for our pastors to minister too. Joel has been with this last family most of the day. Glad he is able to be with this family and hope he can give them some type of comfort.

Loved your pitures as usual. I am so happy we will be going through "lasts" together too.

So what book has you so distracted anyway?

Are temps better this week that you got so much baking and canning done? Your food looks so yummy!

We had a busy couple of weeks, but I'm glad to get back into the regular rythm of life. Band camp looks like fun.

Hugs & love,

We spent it CAMPING! So much fun!!!! By the way, my mom and dad are headed to Jackson Hole for a family wedding in late September so I bookmarked your Shutterfly book for them to look through and get ideas on what to do and where to go today. I'm so excited for them (and slightly jealous!)
