This week was my son's last full week of HS, his last band concert and his graduation banquet at church...........his graduating is finally starting to feel real.
I think it is a bit easier this time because I have been through it before and I already know how GREAT it gets from here...how wonderful it is to see them blossom in college and that a new and amazing relationship will develop. But it is still hard and the tears still flow........I love him so much!!!
Here's my week:
Sunday
This mama and papa come to the pond at our church every year to have their babies. This is the most goslings we have ever seen them have.......8!
This mama is very diligent!
She is under our deck.
doesn't seem like a great place for a nest but she apparently likes it!
Thursday
Had my older son's last band concert :(
loved hearing him play a sax solo.....for the last time.
It is also our director's last concert as she is moving to northwest Arkansas.
She did a fantastic job with these kids and we will miss her!
My younger son was asked to direct one of the pieces.
He did such a good job!!
He was also award "most outstanding musician"
I am so proud of him!!
Friday
My magnolia tree is coming into full bloom
The blooms are HUGE, the size of a plate
If you have never smelled one up close, you are missing out!
They smell heavenly!
Saturday
Each family decorated a table that represented their grad's life
I had a rolling slide show on my Mac and different things that represented Jason's accomplishments

How cute the goslings are!
Would you believe I've never eaten at a Chick-Fil-A? There aren't any around here.
Congrats on your sons for all their accomplishments! How exciting!
I'd love to have a Magnolia tree. I smelled one once, and it's something you never forget. So awesome.
What a great week with proud mama's! Your magnolias look beautiful.
So very proud of Jason!!
Have a super week!!
I like the accomplishment table and the whole evening looks really fun and great for the grads. It must be a little surreal to be doing all this...already.
Congrats to Jared for his award, too. Wow, you are in the homestretch!
Man! I can totally wait for that day to come! But still, I can see how proud of your son you are and I have no doubt we'll feel the same way when our time comes. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like a really special -- and emotional! -- week :-) Lovely photos to go along with all that's going on... such a handsome group of seniors!
Luuuuuurve magnolias! I think I picked my last rose of the season earlier this week. I found a perfect yellow rose on Monday, picked it and brought it in to enjoy. Changing the water each day made it last all week!
Have a wonderful week :-)
What a fun - and tearjerking! - week!
What an emotional week for you and Steve! Congrates to all his acomplishments. What a great idea with the grads and church. Might have to suggest that to our church.
Happy Mother's Day !!!
I love that Chik-a-flick (that's we call it!) is owned by a Christian and do all sorts of amazing things like that! Fabulous! And what a bitter sweet time for you...my oldest will only be going into 5th grade but as I read your through your days I got teary eyed just thinking about it! Love you table tribute...awesome!
OH...and Happy Mother's Day!
My grandparents gave me luggage as my graduation gift also...
I too have a little birds nest under my deck... when I look up it looks exactly like your picture!
Now THAT'S a magnolia tree. We have so-called magnolia's here (I posted some pics a few weeks ago). They're pretty & all, but yours is what I think of when I say magnolia.
Love Chik-Fil-A - it always makes me think of my Mom because it was our favorite place to eat together when we went shopping at the mall.
Congrats on your (almost) graduate. It sounds like you raised him right!
Love the sweet goose family! (I don't remember them. Sometimes I'm pretty unobservant...)
I've become Chick-fil-a fan myself.
Last band concerts are so bittersweet. I remember well.
Mag.no.lia. Love them!!! My Mamaw had like 15 in her yard!! HUGE ones, too! We used to climb them. There's nothing like the smell. Nothing.
What a neat idea to decorate tables for the grads. Fun!!
You had such a memorable week!! Here's to another one!
Love the nature photos--goslings, nest, magnolia!!!
But the LOVE that shines through for your son and the grads is far greater. Great idea passing the mic around!
You, Sara, are amazing! How do you do everything!?
What an emotional mama week this must have been. Emotional, but full of proud moments.
And every good southern woman should have a magnolia tree, yes? It's a nice thought anyway. ;)
I'm finally up!
We have some of those sweet baby ducks around here as well. So far I have not been able to catch any with my camers.
Lots of end of the year stufff going on this week. It was Senior recognition day at church today and this week and next will be fulll of activity for a lot of my friends with seniors.
I'm still four years away from that but it is so fun to see all the smilling faces of all the seniour and all the pround parents.
Wonderful week. Enjoy all thes seniour moments!
Blessings

What a great week! I can't imagine a senior, it seems so far away, yet so close!
It always helps to have a "reason" to go to Chic-fil-a, and what a great one!
Love the signs of spring; geese, ducks and what a beautiful magnolia! The size of a plate?! Wow!
I LOVE that photo of the Goossen Family. I mean GOOSE Family!!! We’ve talked frequently about getting a family of artificial geese for lawn ornaments.
...Just LOVE this photo!
Luggage: Awesome graduation gift. That’s a nice set.
Looks like a dove under your deck. What is it?
"Most Outstanding Musician" = Fantastic. What an honor!
I remember our oldest son’s “last” track meet before graduation a few years ago. I sat in the bleachers next to other mom’s with video cameras and we were all crying. Haahaha!
I am totally envious of your magnolia tree. The snow and frost killed my flowers last night. (big :(
The geraniums are all that’s left today. I should know better than to plant anything outside before June 1st - - whatever!
Wonderful way to honor the graduates. Neat idea with the rolling slide show. Jason looks way wise-beyond his years sitting on that stool :)
Happy WEEK to YOU!!!

Love the open mic idea. Your slide show was a great idea, too. So bittersweet to see them graduate...sigh. Magnolia's as big as a PLATE?! I REALLY, really need to move to the south... :)
Yeah Jared!! What an honor! Sometimes when I see my kids do something exceptional I wonder "Wow where did they get that talent?... oh yeah I remember...God... 'cause it sure wasn't from me!" Sounds like you and I are walking similar paths right now... glad to have someone on the journey with me.
When I saw that you were under your deck to snap a photo of the bird's nest, I thought that was going to be my favorite, but your photos tell such a wonderful story. Magnolia blossoms and happy young people with a promise in their hearts... all so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I used my Betty Crocker cookbook recipe, but I checked my Better Homes and Gardens cook book as well and both recipe were almost identical.
Very easy to do, but a bit labor intensive.
I'll see if I can find a link for the recipe and post it later!

Looks like a special and fun week. Congrats!
Oh Sara, I'm having a hard enough time transitioning from a week in Disneyworld, I can't fathom the emotions hitting hard for you right now with this transition. You'll be in my prayers!
Loved the wildlife this week. Last spring a dove made a nest in my mom's wreath on her FRONT door. Birds can pick interesting spots! My Dad thought the dove was brilliant to chose a spot that had her back covered. They were kind enough to put a sign up and have everyone come in through the garage for a few weeks.
Congrats on your son's accomplishments! He looks so mature. :) My 16-yr-old son has a little ways to go, but is already talking about how fun college will be. It helps to have a sister ahead of you!
Magnolias are divine. and lilacs. Don't have either so I buy the candles. :)
Have a good week!
Those goslings are precious!!!
I really like your table set up. What a special time for your son. :) Good job, Mama!
Love the feathery fuzzy family! I could just hear them honing and smell the sweet magnolia!
