I need to get some water proof mascara...

...seriously.

This week is going to do me in emotionally.

Yesterday was the senior's last official day of school....waahhh!

So, at 1:00 they had an all-school rally to say goodbye to the seniors.
Our school includes K-12 and ALL the kids were present in the gym.
The HS principal had a few words to say to the kids,
then called all the seniors to the gym floor...

They then asked any siblings of the seniors or parents that were there to come lay hands on them. They asked teachers and friends to fill in for those students that didn't have family there. Most every student and 3 or more people laying hands on them!

And then they prayed for our kids....

...wow! I can't even tell you how amazing that was...

..and the tears started.....

Then they asked all the kids and teachers of the school to line up out side. They made a human tunnel from the gym (at the top of the hill) to the high school.
You can't see the gym in this picture... it is to the right of the building at the top. The tunnel curved around and snaked all the way down the hill.

The tunnel ended at the cross outside the high school
(notice the Christmas lights on the cross.
The senior prank was to decorate the whole school for Christmas)

They then had the seniors go through the tunnel.
Getting congratulated by everyone as they went through.

as they exited the tunnel.....they were done with High School...
....and on to their new adventure.

...there were lots of smiles...

...lots of hugs....

...a few (okay..quite a few) tears....

...and yes, even rubbing of the head of the Head of School...

What a great day!
To have the whole school sending the seniors off was truly a wonderful experience. One they won't soon forget.

.....and now I have till the 28th to recover before graduation night when my son officially becomes a college student.....

WAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

Oh my...I am not sure I could have held it together...lots of tears for sure! Love the processional out of the school though...that is so cool! Our seniors last day is Friday and then they have grad on the 18th...my hubby has to work it since he is a teacher at the high school...all of the football coaches are 'security'!

I got chills just READING the things that happened during the day! What a cool way to send off the seniors! Cant even decide what is my favorite - having everyone lay hands on them & praying - or the tunnel with them walking through & everyone congratulating... that is BEYOND cool!

Oh my. What an emotional ride! Through the ups and downs I pray that you are feeling His hands holding you and smiling right along with you. I'm so glad you're "camera happy" so you'll have these images to help you remember always. :) Plus, of course, it inspires all of us out here too. Keep smiling, girl. God has such great things ahead for you and for Jason.

I know you know this, but your boys really do go to an amazing school. A and I say all the time that we would send our kids there if we lived in LR. I'm trying to convince him that it's a perfect reason to move there! I can't believe Mer will be doing that in just one year. WAH!

Also, he's going to an amazing university. I'm so excited that he'll be there and you come visit. It's only about an hour from us!

That tunnel is simply amazing. We moms can be a bit sappy sometimes... but for good reason. Congratulations to your sweet boy!

Ok you're giving me a heads-up on what I'm getting ready to face at the end of the month too. I don't think I'm ready.

Aw how sweet a post and everyone's comments. Those are really great pictures and I'd never heard of such a thing like the tunnel. Just came across your blog today for the first time. It is pretty nice. Thanks for sharing!

My heart goes out to you! It is wonderful that your son had the opportunity to attend a school like that.
I remember the pang in my chest when my kids graduated--moving on to the next season in their life. Such mixed emotions. And yes, water proof mascara is a must!!! :)
Blessings to you and your son!
