finding new glasses = finding new bathing suit

That's right.....

Finding new glasses is about as easy and about as fun as finding a new bathing suit....ugh!!

If you are a guy reading this.........you don't get it!

But if you are a woman........and you wear glasses..........you sooooo get it!

I am there! I need new glasses. But here's the problem. I LOVE the ones I have and get so many compliments on them. Why is that a problem? #1 they are falling apart!!!

I have had these glasses for 4 years and they have repaired them (I am just a tiny bit rough on my glasses) almost as much as they can! And I can not find a new pair like them anywhere. I have even looked on-line.

So, I need to find a new pair. Problem # 2: All the cute glasses now are tiny! Small lenses are back in style! That is a big issue for me, not because I like big lenses.......but because I have really bad eyes and have to wear progressive lenses. I not only need bifocals, I need TRIfocals.

I know what you are thinking.......she is WAY too young to have to wear trifocals!!! And you are SO right!!! However, they are the eyes God gave me and it really doesn't go over well when at church (remember I am a pastor's wife) some one comes up to speak to me and I have to take a step back to see them.......yep, they immediately think they have bad breath!! not good.

But I digress..... you can't do progressive lenses easily in the small lenses, at least not mine.

Problem #3, I have bad eyes. I have to basically put my face one inch from the mirror to even get an idea of how the frames look on my face......seriously. Fortunately, I have a very good friend and very good family members that will go with me and give me the honest, and I mean honest, truth about how each pair looks!!

I have been all over this city looking at glasses. Either I can't find a pair I like, or I find one and the lens is too small for my prescription, or .....have you priced glasses lately? ya, or it's one I can't afford.

Honestly, at this point I think a bathing suit would be easier to find.

for.sure.

Sara, my mother and I share this drudgery with you. I have always had to go with her to pick out her frames. And I look terrible in any glasses. (big nose). You are right in thinking that you look really cute in yours. You and Sarah Palin are the two cutest glasses wearers I've ever seen.

Boy do I understand your predicament. Only, I have to add that there are very few styles that look good on me.

I just prayed that God would help you find the perfect glasses for you and your budget. I want to hear the story when He does. :)

I agree with my 2nd Cup co-Lid!

And I have to laugh - when I saw the title in my reader, I thought you meant that the RESULT of getting new glasses is that you realized you needed a new bathing suit! LOL!!!

And I feel your pain on choosing - until my husband gave me Lasik for our 15th anniversary I was blind as a bat and had a horrible time picking out glasses.

I will be out seaching for a new pair soon. Mine also are about 4 years old. I normally wear contacts because my glasses are in such bad shape. I hope my search goes better than yours!

I totally get it! I currently have frameless because I don't want to wear glasses, but...like you, these are the eyes God has given me, so I have no choice but to wear them. I should be able to get a few years out of them. My swimsuits however, are ones I've had for..oh my...at least 7-8 years. They are falling apart and I'm stressing about that future shopping day.

I opt to wear contcts and save my glasses for night. Its been many years, but the last ones I got were $99 from Sears. But yeah, its tough!

Really, really super sute new look! That Jackie-girl is pretty amazing!

I love the ones you have, too! You've got to find something fun and funky. There's a place in the Heights on R Street, across from the Heights Toy Center that is really nice.I think it's pretty expensive, but they have great glasses. You can't put a price on lookin' good, right?

Oh boy do I know what you mean....I have been looking for a new pair of glasses since October and I can't find a pair I like. Your conquest seems a bit harder than mine though because I only have bifocals. I do hope you will find the perfect pair that will look fabulous on you! :)
