Can't thwart God's plan!

I don't usually post on TV shows on my blog.......but today I have to make an exception!

Are any of you as excited as me that we have a christian, a truly humble young man, an Arkansan (ok most of you don't care about that one) as our next American Idol?!!

I have watched the show from the beginning. I have to say that I love it. But as Kris and Danny floated to the top, I wondered how the judges and the show would handle having 2 strong christian guys in the running. I was pleasantly surprised that they did not have any derogatory words about their faith, surprised really, but toward the end they did attack Kris' character somewhat. Simon even said that his humbleness was getting old and annoying. The world does not value humbleness......in the world's eyes that is weak.

I heard a great quote once about humbleness: humbleness is being willing to look like a failure in everyone's eyes but God's. That doesn't sound weak to me......but I digress.

Even though the judges openly touted Adam as the next winner and praised him for his flamboyance.......America voted and Kris won!

Don't get me wrong, Adam has a fantastic voice. His style is not my favorite, I'm not a rocker. But I can recognize talent and he has it. But personally, I can say that he's not the kind of person I would pick as a role model for my kids. That is important to me.

How excited I am to have someone of Kris' character as the next Idol winner. I have many friends that know him and he truly is an outstanding young man.

I would ask all of you out there the pray for him and his wife. This industry is hard. Pray for their marriage, that it would stand strong. Pray that God would surround Kris with good and wise people and that his faith would be an example to all those who come in contact with him.

We supported him with our votes........let's now support him with our prayers!!

Good thoughts...all. I thought the same thing...may the Lord preserve their marriage as this could be a very challenging year. What a very sweet young man.

At our house we were DIE HARD Danny fans! When he went home...we all checked out emotionally!!!! I think we will see more out of him though...

Happy Thursday sweet Sara!!

I really thought it would go the other way just because it isn't "cool" to be like Kris these days. It is ok to be as strange, dark and far out as you want to be but to be normal isn't considered normal anymore. I am glad that he won because I also heard friends say that Kris was a little too down to earth. I say what's wrong with that. I am tired of having to be outside the box to fit in.

Great post

Agree. That was one of the first thigs I thought too when they called him the winner. Oh, I pray for that marriage. I think it was wonderful that he won.

Wow, you put into words every thing I have been feeling about this show. I LOVE Kris, love what he stands for, but honestly didn't think he would win because like you said, the world sometimes just doensn't want to acknowledge those that are living right and are excellent role models. But America got it right this time - so excited.

You are right. And as much as I liked Adam for spicing up the AI stage I would have never bought his album/single.

Great postSara and I agree with you totally. We do need to pray for them and their marriage. Stardom does terrible things to people sometimes. Hopefully they will stay strong in the Lord. Kris does seem to have great character and I'm happy he won.

Thanks for the reminder that for everyone called to the next level, prayer is SO crucial.

Wonderfully written, Sara! We were SO DELIGHTED to watch him win, the whole family was whooping in joy! Isn't he the first American Idol to win that is married at the time he took the title? I, too, have thought what a road to go down - for him, and his wife. They are both certainly deserving of our prayers!
