Good Intentions

So, I had great intentions of doing Linda's Phase 2 of 30 x 5...

Last Monday, I started off GREAT.

I denied myself my afternoon snack and walked for an hour with my neighbor.

Tuesday, same thing......walked for an hour and ate fairly well.

Then Wednesday hit and so did the dreaded stomach virus......for the next 3 days, my feet never touched the ground. However, I did lose weight!! The ONLY benefit of the flu and one I would never freely choose on my own!!!

The weekend was spent at the Weekend to Remember conference and though we spent the night in a gorgeous hotel, no "exercise" happened.......both Steve and I were both still trying to recover! We barely stayed awake till 8:00!!!

So here we are at Monday again.......good intentions.

I have been dealing with something for a while that I haven't told ya'll about. After seeing the doctor and having some tests done, I was given the results and the heard the word women my age never want to hear........

........menopause.

And though I am happy to find out why I am losing my hair and seriously think I am going bald, and why my skin is so incredibly dry, and why I wake up in the night drenched in sweat, and why since I have not had PMS since my hysterectomy I am suddenly feeling like my head is spinning around my body with green stuff spewing from my mouth.............I really did not want to hear that word.

And was not too excited to be going on hormone therapy treatment where the side effects can be major mood swings.........really?, because I thought I already had that! Does that mean they double in intensity? Because if so, my family will duck tape me in the closet!!!

So back to Monday........

it's one of those days.........

Sorry Lid, I am not giving up, but tomorrow is a new day.......right?!!

Yes, Scarlett, it most certainly is.

Oh, I'm familiar with that M word!!! Mine hit about 2 yrs ago. I'm not allowed to do the hormone therapy, either, so I'm trying to battle it out.

BLACK COHOSH, Sara. It makes so much difference with the hot flashes and most of the symptoms. Not the v-dryness, but the other symptoms.

My sister tells me that exercise has helped her the most in her menopause. I just started exercising in the past week. I just hate exercise!!

Glad you have good intentions and hopefully tomorrow will find you back to walking and eating healthier.

Thank you for your prayers. Send me your e-mail Iwould really like to explain to you what is going on but do not want to annouce it to the whole blog world. I appreciate your blog, your comments to me and your prayers.
It is something I never thought I would experience.
Thank you !!!!

Hang in there! I am sure you will feel more like yourself soon. I can't imagine such a big weekend after such a terrible week!

Thanks for the comfort that I am not the only mom who has let her child run around with Pneumonia. She is not acting sick at all so I am having a hard time making myself keep her at home even with the diagnosis!

Oh, I'm sure I'm not too far behind you.

I still have to post my meme..which I was going to do tonight, but there was no way that I could not rant and rave publicly about the Jack and Tony fiasco!!!!!

Hugs,

Ohilda

That looks suspiciously like a "Skinny Cow," and if that is indeed what you are eating and feeling so guilty about, then I say "Good gracious, you're doin' awesome!! It's when you're up at midnight going back and forth between eating coconut straight out of the bag and "putting away" half a bag of tortilla chips (albeit baked) that you really have to wonder why you bothered in the first place signing up for such a commitment. (I speak from my own personal 30 x 5 failure. Ha!)

I began the M time at the early age of 35. What a joy. (Yes, I am being sarcastic.)

I thought that looked like a skinny cow too. What a great name. Only 2 points and udderly delicious. I also have found Black Cohosh works really well for me. Actually I use a formulation of different things. If you're interested, I'll send you the link. Maybe I should do a give-away for all the meno mamas. ; )

Is that a skinny cow?
Not you the ice cream treat...looks like a skinny cow. They are SO good.
Hey, I HAVE night sweats too!

yes, ya'll that is a skinny cow....which are very yummy.....but which could have been the 100 calories that I denied myself that day!

Love it!...sounds like you have a great source of info for menopause symptom relief! I'm coming back to your comments just to share in all the good advice.

BTW, Skinny Cow is definitely NOT cheating....unless you eat 2 or 3 at a time. :) Keep walking!

I think you'd be cute bald :)

I haven't walked for an hour in soooo long. There. You should feel better now :)

Sorry about the diagnosis. My mom is going through it early, too (I don't know, is 49 early?? She seems to young to be going through menopause). At least you found solace in the ice cream sandwich. :)

Sorry sister, but it happens to all of us sooner or later. I haven't had it diagnosed, but definitely have a lot of the symptoms. If you try this black cohosh that your commentors are talking about, let us know if it works. My family would probably be thrilled if I found something to help. ;)
