I see what you're saying!!! Christmas edition

Well, This is really late. Procrastination, too much to do, hitting a wall yesterday after my family left (I am so tired my eye lid is twitching and driving me crazy..hope you can't see that) and then trouble uploading my video are all the culprits!!! I spent an hour trying to get it uploaded and finally had to wait till my son or daughter got home this afternoon to do it for me!

But my video is up!!! A couple of disclaimers......

* no makeup!!! We took down Christmas this morning and I had time for a shower but that's it! I should have taken time to put on some lipstick at least!

* My arm is not long enough!! I am holding the video camera out (I didn't have a videographer like some of you!) and so it is really close to my face....thus making it look much more round than it already does.....yes, I'm whining! It could be all the junk I ate over the last month, but let's leave that for another blog!!

so, enjoy the vlog! I have really enjoyed watching all of yours!!

I tried to watch your video. It says private...for friends only.

Sorry - I wanted to SEE what you were saying.

Kim said...

Yeah, coming up private for me too. I'll try back later.

Sara, It's so good to see/hear you again! You have the best, sunniest personality. Are you like that all the time?? About the Santas, I say do what you like. If I were brave like that, I would keep some that I love up, too (gingerbread?) I can't tell for sure what color your dining room walls are; they look sort of coral in the tape. Do the Santas clash or coordinate with the Santas? Well, at any rate, glad you jumped on the bandwagon even this afternoon. Be blessed this new year! Linda

Linda, my walls are red and do coordinate with the Santas.....they're growing on me!

I love the Santas. I vote yes. If they were the jolly North Pole Clement Moore type, I'd say no, but those are perfect. And I love the trees too. Looks kinda foresty and blends in with the wall.

Loved your video! I felt like I was sitting on your porch.

You are just the sweetest thing. I say keep the Santas, especially because they make you happy :)

I hope you post the video of your Christmas this year. What an amazing idea. I LOVE it.

Ok I can totally see my kids making a pact and agreeing to give presents to each other. No not really, I would hope that they would do something special. Just to test the waters on Christmas eve I said; hey why don't we all go down to the food kitchen tomorrow and help serve Christmas dinners to the homeless and they both said sure that sounds good. Of course they then asked if we could have our dinner afterwards but it is a start. Great idea.

I'm back and I could see this time! On the Santa's I'd say do what YOU want. For me, I think the stuff would be less special if I saw it all the time (take it for granted), but if you enjoy them and don't take them for granted - leave them up!

Happy day!

Hi there!

First, thank you again for the love letters idea. Hubby did good, huh? :)

As to the Santas, I gotta go with the majority, do what you like. They look great.

I also wanted to say that you have BEAUTIFUL eyes! Wow! They really stood out when you were outside speaking.

It's funny hearing you again because I keep thinking about the skunk story, which still makes me laugh...heh!

Hugs and happy new year!

Sara, I like the Santas and the trees I don't think they look out of place or funny. They give the room a rustic look. And the Santas AREN'T all Christmasy...the are sort of woodsy. If you feel funny, leave them up through winter...now I know winter there and winter here are two totally different things...but maybe he comes for the colder months and goes an "vacation" in the warm months...all that fur and beard you know...gets kinda sweaty.
Okay, enough about the Santas. I SO enjoyed seeing and hearing you! My heart sang when you first started talking! Seriously, it's like I know you and then I got to hear you, watch your eyes, your smile. You are so lovely. (I'm not trying to creep you out or anything) But I've been looking forward to a few of y'alls posts and I have NOT been disappointed. I am excited to hear about how the kids spent their money though. It was such a great idea, it's like an unfinished story for us here in blogland...oh please finish it please. Tell the children we are begging!!!
What happened to loud Santa? His he still around or did he find his way to the trash? I'm hoping for a rematch next year!
You are delightful!
That was AWESOME coming through your front door...I can still see your home from when you posted before...it's almost like being there.

What makes my favorite Christmas decorations special to me is that I only enjoy them a short time every year. I've toyed with the idea of keeping a few out all year, but never have. So if it were me...

BUT, if you kept them out in another home and you enjoyed having them out year round and would like to do that again, it sounds like your family would support that.

Well done!

i say keep it up and if it ever comes about that you don't like it...well you've got nothing to lose. its great putting a voice w/ your blog now!
happy new years,

You don't have makeup on? You look great! Nor fair.

Great idea on the Christmas gifts for the kiddos. I'm interested to hear more about that later.

I say leave the Santas up if you enjoy them.

Hi Sara...it was great to "see" you today! I'm glad you didn't give up on posting even though it was late in the day. I posted MUCH later than I wanted to, too, but ya know -- a girl's gotta do... :-)

I totally agree with the general idea here: If you like them, they look great up there. If you'll tire of them, then change them out with something else for the warmer months. I'm going through the same deliberation over our silver. I polished it up for Thanksgiving and didn't want to have to do it again for Christmas, so we've been using it ever since. Now I don't want to put it up! But I wonder if it will feel so special next Christmas if we have used it all year.

*sigh*

Happy New Year!

I loved your video - you don't look round in the face at all!! Crazy!!
I loved coming in your front door - made me feel like I was right there with you. I say keep up the santas since you like them and your kids are asking you to keep them. I think that's a big deal.
Nice to see you, Sara! Thanks for sharing your video!

I can't wait to read or see more on Christmas. I am curious as to how they spent their money.

As for the decor in the dining room, I say leave it. It looks lovely.

Happy New Year and I enjoyed your vlog.

I like the Santas. Their placement isn't over obvious, so I say keep them. I love your Christmas gift idea. I'd love to at least read how it went. Thanks for sharing your vlog today. I'm so enjoying visiting new blogs and actually getting hear people. It's been great. Oh, just a note, I had to hold my camera too.:( It makes it REAL...right! :)

Sara! I loved your video...you sound so sweet and fun!!!
About the Santas...I was just pondering whether or not I should leave mine out for the rest of winter. I think that I will for sure. By spring, I will take them down, but if you want them up all year - go for it. They really look perfect in that room!
I can't wait to hear the story of your kiddos Christmas $!
Days like today, when we actually "see" people, really makes me wish I know you all in person!
Happy 2009!

My vote: If you love them, keep them out. I'm of the "life's too short to keep china for special occasions" opinion.

Loved the Christmas gift. I can not wait to find out how they gave the money away!

Leave the Santas up! I would love to be there for the open house.... it would just be too long of a comute. LOL Whitlow"s are doing it so I will go there. Miss you guys, Mark

Hmmm that is a hard one! At first when you asked the question my gut reaction is that you should take them down, because I assumed that you would have a huge colection. BUT when I saw them and remembered that it was only a few I kinda changed my mind. I think that since you really enjoy them and it is not like they take up a huge amount of space that they should stay.

Hey! We have been bloggy friend for 3 months! It was ISWYS that first brought us togeather! Me with my possum story and you your skunk! I really should thank Linda for giving us this format for meeting new friends! ;)

Oh, I'm so looking forward to hearing more about how your kids spent their Christmas money. I hope you get to tell us more about it soon.

As far as the Santas go...I say do what you love. If you and your family enjoy them, then leave 'em up! They look great.

How DO you do it? You're having an open house for your church family, you've put away all the Christmas decorations (except Snatas), and you still have time to make a video? Amazing!

Re: Santas--if they make you and your family happy, why not?

Interesting video, Sara. Happy New Year.

I liked the idea about the Christmas gift thing, hope you get permission from all the young'ns to share.

Great video!

My vote, I'm in the minority. I like enjoying my Christmas decoration but I think if I had them out all the time they would be sorta everyday kinda stuff. But then again ya know life is short, and who am I to say.....

anyway......

Merry Christmas

Loved the video

Blessings
Robin

I was going to say at first to just leave them up until the end of winter but I thought on it and they really do match the decor of the room. All year I think would be fine. It was great to see you and I love the idea you did with your kids' gifts. Mine would be likely to give the money to each other :-p

i can't wait to hear more about your Christmas morning! What a wonderful and thoughtful idea.

I say leave the santas up ~ I think they look great!

Hi Sara! I think you should keep the Santas out since you want to. You may do it just for a year, but I'd do it.
I told my family about your new adventure in giving with your kids. We are all very interested to hear more. You inspire me. Happy New Year!
