Heavenly Rewards

So many days, I get caught up comparing myself to those around me....

.....if I could just be a better mom like her
......if I could sing like that
......I am so below average when I stand next to.....

This devotion met me there today and I want to share it with you!

When the master comes and finds the servant doing his work, the servant will be blessed.  Matt 24:46

The stadium is packed today.  Since Friday, Mark McGwire has hit not one or two home runs, but three.  For 37 years, no one could hit more than 61 homers in one season; now the slugger has hit 68.  And he isn't finished....The fans are on their feet before he comes to bat; they stay on their feet long after he crosses the plate....

Not everyone can be a Mark McGwire.  for every million who aspire, only one achieves.  The vast majority of us don't hit the big ball, don't feel the ticker tape, don't wear the gold medal, don't give the valedictory address.

And that's OK.  we understand that in the economy of earth, there are a limited number of crowns.

The economy of heaven however, is refreshingly different.  Heavenly rewards are not limited to a chosen few, but "to all those who have waited with love for him to come again" (2 Tim. 4:8)

I am so thankful for this reminder today!  I just need to be the person God has called me to be and do my best with what He has placed before me.  I need to be the servant that is doing her work, not someone else's.

Have a great day, friends, and a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Btw, Alyssa finally made it in late last night after many delays!  Oh, how good it felt to have her in my arms!!!

I'm glad you have your daughter to hug. And, BTW: I'll keep on being ME.

God is amazing! I am off to take the little ones to the park before the craziness of our Thanksgiving begins to roll in. I've so been feeling exactly what you mentioned in your post lately.

Today was no different and I am overwhelmed and feeling that I can't do everything that is expected of me, yet so many other do it so easily.

I logged on since I saw you just posted and VOILA....

My heart rejoices in knowing that my King has a crown reserved for me in His Kingdom. Thank you, Jesus. And thank you, Sara!

Hugs and happy TG!

SO glad that you two are together. That can be so frustrating ...the wait and longing.

I got to hug my boy last night. I said, "You have clean sheets and a new pillow! You're home! You're home!" He just laughed and hugged me.

Happy Thanksgiving. I often think of the same things and wish I could have been the one who got the reward but that seldom happens. I will get mine one day.

So, so true. I deal with this all the time - the feeling of inadequacy, of falling short. Great perspective.

So glad she is home! I can't wait to hear all about your weekend...I know you are going to be making some great memories.
